On Sunday 2nd March 2014 the academic session started with Dr. Ambika memorial lecture given by Ms. Reshma Sara Thomas (2010 MBBS) about teacher student relationship in professional education. Her essay was selected the best in the Dr. Ambika memorial essay competition for MBBS students. Next was a talk on Bioinformatics by Mrs. Shivina Kumari, Director of CIST, USA. Prof. P.K.R. Warrier memorial oration was delivered by Dr. Y.A. Nazar, eminent cardiac surgeon of Travancore Heart Institute, Kollam the topic being “Cardiac Surgery – a Dying star or Supernova”. The unique qualities of Prof. P.K.R. Warrier was mentioned by Prof. Dr. Chandramohan former VC of Kannur University who chaired this session. Dr. Nazar mentioned two path changing incidents in his professional life involving Prof. P.K.R. Warrier to illustrate his qualities. The citation was presented by Prof. K.V. Krishnadas. Prof. P.K.R Warrier’s son and daughter-in-law were present on the occasion. The last session was a panel discussion on “Preventive Vaccination” chaired by Dr. K.E. Elizabeth and Dr. Rajmohanan. Speakers were Dr. P.N.N. Pisharody, Dr. Asha Raghavan, Dr. Noel Narayanan, Dr. Lalitha Kailas, Dr. Sreedhar, Dr. Thomas Mathew and Dr. Mohanan Nair. Finally the General Body meeting was held.
