Dr. M.V Pillai received 15th P. Kesavadev Award

Dr M.V. Pillai, renowned cancer specialist, writer and orator received the P Kesavadev Literary Award for his outstanding contribution to Malayalam literature. The award was given away at a function held at Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of 15th edition of P Kesavadev awards instituted by P Kesavadev Trust. 

Each award comprises a purse of Rs 50,000, a memento sculptured by artist B D Dethan and a citation. The awards were distributed by the speaker, P Sreeramakrishnan. 

Dr. Pillai is a Trivandrum Medical College alumnus and  highly respected literary figure in his native language of Malayalam and has extensive business and personal relationships in USA, India and the Middle East. Also, he is a former Lt. Colonel in the US Air Force. In his acceptance speech, Dr Pillai said the award was a big recognition for a person like him who left Kerala 42 years ago.  He said one seventh of the Malayalees who live abroad play a major role in the horizontal growth of Malayalam language and literature. They are the advocates of this growth in other countries.
