Dr. Siva Narayana Pillai was a surgeon par excellence and a surgical teacher who inspired four decades of medical students to surgical careers. He was a simple man with humility, compassion towards patients and life long dedication to surgical teaching. He spent most of his surgical career at Trivandrum Medical College where he became Professor of Surgery.
Post retirement he had started a surgical centre Sree Krishna Surgical Centre opposite Men's Hostel. He passed away after a brief illness with pneumonia and sepsis at SUT Hospital Pattom. His students and fellow faculty members paid respects at his house before the cremation at Santhikavadam yesterday evening. He is survived by his wife Dr Geetha retired Professor of Anaesthesia, a son and daughter with their spouses and three grandchildren. He was 77 and is an alumnus of Trivandrum Medical College.
He was an ardent devotee of Guruvayoorappan and paid regular visits to the shrine. A man of simple habits he was adored by his patients, his students and fellow faculty members alike.
