On 9th May 2024, the Knowledge Centre hosted an event titled "How can we realize the potential of physical activity for mental health and other NCDs?" jointly organized by KUHS School of Public Health, the Indian Psychiatry Society Kerala Chapter, and TMCAA. The event featured an invited lecture by Dr. Simon Rosenbaum, Scientia Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, who discussed the significant role of physical activity in managing mental health and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The programme included a welcome address by Dr. K. Rajamohanan, an introduction by Dr. Indu P.S., a presidential address by Dr. Linette Morris, and an inauguration by Dr. Thomas Mathew. A panel discussion followed the lecture, featuring experts like Dr. Shaji K.S., Dr. Nandakumar, Dr. K.P. Jayaprakashan, Dr. Santhosh Raghavan, Dr. Anuja U., and Dr. Sudheesh C.S. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Kavitha Ravi. The session highlighted the integration of physical activity into mental health treatments and the management of NCDs, emphasizing collaborative efforts across public health, psychiatry, and community medicine.
