Dr. Jothydev of 1984 MBBS batch of TMC was awarded the Diacon Gold Medal Oration for his research findings on Diabetes related diseases at the annual conference of RSSDI at Ahmedabad.

He is an internationally recognised Diabetologist with strong academic and research skills.

Dr. Faisal worked initially as lecturer in General Surgery and later shifted to Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His burial was conducted this morning. He had a course of treatment from RCC.

On Sunday 2nd March 2014 the academic session started with Dr. Ambika memorial lecture given by Ms. Reshma Sara Thomas (2010 MBBS) about teacher student relationship in professional education.  Her essay was selected the best in the Dr. Ambika memorial essay competition for MBBS students. Next was a talk on Bioinformatics by Mrs. Shivina Kumari, Director of CIST, USA. Prof. P.K.R. Warrier memorial oration was delivered by Dr. Y.A.

Thiruvananthapuram Alumni Recreational Association for medicos(THARAM) got off to a colourful start last week. During the 9th Annual Convention held on 1st March the first edition of Tharam was inaugurated by the Transport Commissioner Sri. Rishi Raj Singh IPS. The event started with film songs by Dr. S. Aswini Kumar, Dr. K.A. Kumar and Dr, Sreerekha Panicker and Dr. Harikrishnan etc.. The old nostalgia was recreated by Dr. G.R. Santhosh Kumar and Dr Abraham Joshua and wife couple.  Sopana Sangeetham was rendered in classical style by Dr. T.N.

Over 400 families of medical professionals graduated from this college had gathered here for the event. The participation was overwhelming including many doctors even from the 1st batch (1951)- Dr.K.V. Krishnadas and Dr. Balaraman Nair, to name a few and also from abroad. The convention was held at the Diamond Jubilee Alumni Auditorium. On the first day the convention was inaugurated by Hon. Speaker Sri. G. Karthikeyan. The inaugural ceremony begun with brief memorial service in remembrance of recently departed faculty and Alumni members.

They let their hair down – or maybe one should say, stethoscopes down – last Saturday when the oldest medical college in the State, with the youngest alumni association, organised a banquet and cultural programme in honour of its former students.
