This educational awareness video on epilepsy in children informs us about the care that should be given to the affected children during an acute seizure. This video also discusses the misinformation prevalent among the public about this common medical problem. This video was made with technical inputs from the Indian Association of Pediatrics. The foreword is by Dr Gisi Shibu . It is in Malayalam with English subtitles. The video was produced by the Indian Association of Pediatrics and Prof Mohammed Kunju Head of the Department of Pediatric Neurology.

Organ Transplantation services started at Trivandrum Medical College in 1998 with renal transplantation under Prof P Subramonian with mentoring from Prof Roy Chally. Deceased donor organ transplantation was started in 2012 and is going strong. Live related kidney transplantation has always progressed at a steady pace and reaches 400 shortly. Liver transplantation was also started with an index case done about two years ago. Further cases will take place as the upgradation in facilities is completed.

The students of Christ Hagar School Trivandrum planted tress in the presence of our Principal Dr Thomas Mathew and Vice Principal Dr Saboora Begun. Cine Actor Joby was the chief guest. The function was held at the De-addiction Centre under the Department of Psychiatry. Trees were planted at the department and near the SAT Hospital. The programme was organised by the National Service Scheme unit of TMC and the Christ Nagar School Nature Club.

The surgeons over 60 years of age got together on the occasion of the first meeting of the Trivandrum Senior Surgeons Association. The group included many senior faculty of the Department of General Surgery at Trivandrum Medical College over the years.

With a motive of spreading the light of confidence, will power, preparation techniques, belief in oneself, hope and faith among NEET aspirants, COGNOSCO 19 was conducted by IMA MSN TMC unit in the college campus on 6th January 2019. The one day workshop began at 9 am with a mock test that comprised of most likely questions to be asked in the entrance test. The auditorium was flooded by more than 100 passionate students and their parents from various districts. Talks by eminent and experienced faculties of corresponding subjects and Dr.

TMC's distinguished alumnus Dr Parameswaran Hari (1985 batch) awarded the Health Care Hero award by Biz Time Media for his valuable contribution in Advancement in Health care. 

The 40th year get-together of the TMC '78 batch was held on Tuesday (18/12/18) at the Diamond Jubilee Alumni Auditorium along with Guruvandanam. Prof. K V Krishnadas, Rtd Professor of Medicine and Prof. P A Thomas, Rtd Professor of Surgery were present at the occasion. This was followed by a walk down the memory lane in the form of sessions in the Anatomy dissection hall and class room sessions along with the present students as a combined class. Photo sessions and lunch in the campus followed.

Famous Australian cricketer and feared fast bowler Brett Lee visited Trivandrum Medical College as part of his duties as Cochlear's Global Ambassador for Treating Disabled Children. He was here to spread awareness on that mission. He was received ceremoniously by the Principal Dr Thomas Mathew to the traditional welcome with chendamelam. The official function at the Diamond jubilee Auditorium was attended by medical  students and faculty membets in large numbers. He also spent time with the medical college cricket team.
